Job description: Job Title: Trust & Estate ParalegalAbout Us: GPAC has partnered with a national law firm specializing in Litigation. Their team is seeking a Trusts & Estates Paralegal with 5-8 years of experience in estate planning and trust administration to work in our Los Angeles (Westwood) office. The Trusts & Estates Paralegal will be responsible for day-to-day tasks related to estate planning and trust administration including document preparation and review, legal research, and communication with clients.The Firm: A national, full-service law firm dedicated to assisting businesses, institutions, and individuals. They offer legal services in business restructuring & insolvency, construction, corporate matters, healthcare, intellectual property, labor & employment, litigation, real estate, and trusts & estates. In addition, the firm offers a wide range of legal services to clients in the aviation & aerospace, cannabis, emerging cyber technologies, energy & natural resources, entertainment & sports, hospitality, and life sciences industries.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Preparation of accountings for both estates and trusts
- Drafting of estate planning documents, including wills, living trusts, irrevocable trusts and asset transfers
- Assistance with probate administration including probate petitions, assessor forms, statutory notices, creation of sub trusts, family settlement agreements, Rule 5.6 notices, and allocation of assets
- Preparation of federal and state individual and fiduciary income tax returns, gift tax returns, and estate tax returns
- Serves as liaison between firm, clients, advisors, and beneficiaries
Candidate Qualifications
- 5-8 years of experience in trusts & estates within a law firm environment
- Paralegal certificate required; B.A. or B.S. desired
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Word and Excel; experience with WealthCounsel, Lackner, ProLaw, and NetDocs a plus
- Notary Public a plus
- Excellent mathematical skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Legal research and technical writing skills, including proficiency with legal research tools
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
- Ability to work within deadlines and work on multiple tasks simultaneously
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
