Students will learn to prepare detailed sketches for pipe and equipment fabrication and installation, how to install underground storm sanitary and water piping systems, and receive more experience with finishing work, such as installing sinks, tubs and toilets or more specialized task like installing water conditioners or hydronic heating and chilled water systems.The program is currently recruiting for a temporary instructor who is an energetic leader, committed to student success, and have outstanding communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.The successful candidate will:Have strong technical knowledgeBe able to work both independently and within a team environmentBring passion, enthusiasm, and ideas that will positively contribute to the advancement and growth of the program and the culture of our collaborative and dynamic teamKey Responsibilities:Prepare and present learning outcomes and activities in a classroom, virtual, laboratory and industry settingParticipate in curriculum development, program reviews and course reviewsFacilitate the learning process by utilizing instructional strategies that ensure efficient and effective delivery of course materialsManage instructional delivery and set the tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environmentCreate assessment tools to evaluate the learning process and maintain progress recordsProvide early and on-going coaching and tutoring for students to maximize student success and retentionRespond to student issuesUtilize appropriate educational technology for presentations, communications and program promotionsMaintenance and/or submission of program/student records accurately and promptlyMaintain professional and ethical relationships with students, colleagues, and industry partnersActively participate in the strategies of NAIT’s Strategic Plan and NAIT’s Academic Plan as identified by the instituteUtilize regular student feedback to identify and implement instructional improvementImprove the quality of instruction through professional development activitiesOther duties as assignedSkills & Abilities:Excellent interpersonal SkillsStrong desire to help students succeedExcellent communication skillsStrong knowledge of computers and accessoriesQualifications:High School DiplomaCompletion of Plumbing Alberta Journeyman certificate or provincial equivalent including Inter-Provincial Red Seal requiredMinimum 5 years recent industry experience after completion of Journeyman certificate or provincial equivalent.Additional relevant post-secondary education and/or professional development trainingTeaching experience preferredApplicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).Remuneration: Instructor salary grid $34.48 – $59.98 per hour. However, starting salary for new hires averages between $41.76 – $45.41 per hour, based on education and experience with room for negotiations.Will commensurate with education and experience, plus 18.5% in lieu of annual vacation and statutory holidays.
