Job DescriptionThe Data Center Systems Aggregation Team is responsible for managing Expeditors essential infrastructure. This infrastructure provides Expeditors the global connectivity, compute power, and storage to meet its growing demand to move freight. The Unix Administrator is responsible for the support, troubleshooting, installation, and deployment of UNIX based systems. The Unix Administrator assists and instructs regional staff to perform operating system updates, patching, installations, and troubleshooting.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Utilizing Infrastructure as Code best practices, develop, maintain, and enhance systems using scripting/programming languages such as Bash, Ansible, Python or C
  • Perform system builds and hardware upgrades for UNIX servers
  • Enable and maintain system backups utilizing backup software and web-based monitoring tools
  • Provides tier 3 production support for servers and data storage including after-hours on-call support
  • Diagnose and isolate operating system, server-side networking, and application-related problems; create workarounds or conduct system and disk recovery as necessary
  • Perform hardware maintenance, repairs, and replacements
  • Provide recommendations to management through research and review of recent industry solutions in various UNIX related technologies
  • Create documentation and training material; provide training to others

This position is on-site and will reside in the greater Seattle, WA. area at one of the following locations depending on availability. Candidates must be local or willing to relocate. Relocation assistance is not offered for this position.

QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to work collaboratively in an agile team environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • 2+ years of Red Hat experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Experience with automation frameworks & extensive programming/scripting experience (bash, Ansible)
  • Experience using fiber attached storage in both SAN and point-to-point environments
  • Knowledge of backup strategies and products
  • Knowledge of DTrace and other diagnostic tools
  • An aptitude for methodical and comprehensive troubleshooting

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with Solaris and Solaris Zones
  • Experience with automation frameworks & extensive programming/scripting experience (Python, C)
  • Experience with Cohesity or CommVault backup solutions
  • Experience with Ansible and Ansible AWX
  • Expertise configuring and supporting Sun Volume Manager, Veritas Storage Foundation, and ZFS
  • Experience with cluster management software (VCS)
  • Practiced in designing and implementing business continuity/disaster recovery and high availability plans
  • Microsoft Cloud Solutions
