This role is responsible for procuring and managing an average inventory of $500,000 – $600,000 in pet supplies and medicine and ensuring that all products are handled and stored according to established guidelines. The Supply Chain & Purchasing Supervisor ensures that the department provides excellent service to our internal customers and maintains good relationships with our vendors.Core ResponsibilitiesTeam Management
- Supervises three direct reports: two full-time, one part-time
- Manages payroll/timekeeping
- Manages people and operations budget, in collaboration with the Finance department
- Trains and coaches employees in proper procedures, product handling, customer service, safety and computer/tablet transactions
Procurement and Inventory Management
- Directs the team in best procurement practices, ensuring the right product, right time, right quantity and right source
- Creates and maintains file of department standard operating procedures
- Works closely with the medical teams at our San Francisco and Central Valley locations to set formularies and supply lists for each location
- Ensures timely and accurate processing of invoices and other transactions in Netsuite
- Responsible for cost updates in ezyVet throughout the year
- Responsible for cost updates in Netsuite as needed
- Oversees and participates in weekly audits of central inventory to ensure accuracy
- Ensures that all products are stored according to stated guidelines
- In collaboration with medical team supervisors, ensures controlled substances are safely and legally acquired, tracked, delivered and paperwork properly filed
- Handles product returns and credits
- Handles equipment repairs as needed
- Assists the Director with sourcing for major equipment purchases
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years management experience required
- Experience working in supply chain/procurement/purchasing strongly preferred
- Experience in veterinary hospital operations and understanding of veterinary medical terminology preferred
- Excellent communication and conflict management skills
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
- Proficiency in Excel
- Experience with NetSuite preferred.
- Experience with ezyVet and/or other veterinary PIMS is a plus.
- Motivational and team building skills
Salary & BenefitsThe starting salary for this position depends on the depth and breadth of experience. The expected range is $85,000 – $95,000.
