Job description: Job Description:The Senior Informatics Analyst plays a crucial role in evaluating and enhancing Delta Dental’s processes to optimize patient outcomes and maintain industry standards. This position involves utilizing advanced acumen of the healthcare payer ecosystem and clinical practices to organize, analyze, and interpret expansive and complex data to support the organization in monitoring both business and clinical outcomes, enabling informed decisions. Additionally, this role verifies that capabilities are in place for safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, and equitable care. The Senior Informatics Analyst contributes to the overall enterprise strategy by independently assessing internal and external information, providing recommendations, and creating comprehensive storyboards for key clinical and non-clinical stakeholders to ensure fact-based decisions.Responsibilities:

  • Assesses informatics needs of internal customers and aggregates relevant clinical and business information across multiple internal and external data sources to perform comprehensive informatic analyses, which may include validating hypotheses, identifying trends, patterns, and areas for improvement in provider behavior, patient care and safety outcomes, and evaluating the cost and value implications of acting.
  • Monitors clinical, access, utilization and business statistics; identifies existing or potential issues as well as opportunities for improvement in consistency and efficiency.
  • Develops visualizations to communicate informatics insights to stakeholders and supports the development of repeatable mechanisms to track, monitor and report out on outcome attributes and key information.
  • Undertakes ad-hoc informatics requests from business partners to identify and quantify opportunities, support end-to-end business impact assessments, and/or address specific questions relevant to delivering quality business and patient outcomes.
  • Leads informatic initiatives and projects using statistical techniques to discover insights that will guide strategic decisions and uncover process optimization opportunities.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure standard policies and processes are followed in leveraging data and data solutions. Guides and mentors others in discussions to influence and inform data and reporting strategies.
  • Accountable to build the value story and participate in presentations to senior leaders, effectively communicating essential findings and recommendations to support data-driven and evidence-based decision-making, strategy, roadmap development, and prioritization.
  • Collaborates across the Quality department to identify opportunities for improving patient care outcomes and quality measures.
  • Supports an enterprise provider risk score methodology and program to assess and monitor provider risk continuum.
  • Supports the development of educational and awareness programs aimed at improving clinical and business outcomes utilizing informatics-led insights.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in clinical-based analytics required.
  • Experience in a clinical role and/or a Masters Degree (MBA, MPH, MSc) preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of data exploration and reporting principles, as well as SQL.
  • Understanding of and experience using analytical concepts and statistical techniques.
  • Ability to build Excel-based data models and sort through complex and/or large sums of data.
  • Expertise with data visualization and dashboard tools such as PowerBI.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex technical topics to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong presentation skills, including comfortability with presenting to all levels of management.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with cross-functional teams.
  • Solid planning, priority setting, and project management skills, with demonstrated ability in managing multiple projects concurrently.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Superb analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to break down complex problems into pieces that can be solved with data, analysis, assumptions, and judgment.

Base Pay InformationThe national base pay range at the end is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental’s assessment of the candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications.
