Sheriff Services supports Court Services and the Courts by providing security to ensure a safe work environment. In addition, Sheriff Services manage prisoner transportation and serve Court documents and processes in the community, all of which are conducted in a safe and secure manner.About Our OpportunityThe Risk and Intelligence Analyst is responsible for collecting, evaluating and analyzing intelligence data collected from Sheriff Services’ staff, other Provincial and Federal enforcement agencies, professional sources, external clients and on-site intelligence officers.As a Risk and Intelligence Analyst, you will conduct threat and risk management assessments and establish risk management strategies designed to deter, or proactively mitigate threats to courts, staff, and participants. You will prepare intelligence briefs with respect to individuals who pose a risk, which will provide guidance to senior management.In this role, you will use a variety of Structured Professional Judgement Guidelines in making systematic assessments. Your analysis of data will be instrumental in providing recommendations relating to resource allocation and the monitoring and management of high risk individuals.Qualifications and ExperienceThis position requires a University degree in a related field (Social Sciences, Business Administration or Law) and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a related law enforcement analytical field. An acceptable combination of education and experience will be considered.Our successful candidate will have experience using standard research and reporting tools, methodologies and processes. You will also have experience with policy, research evaluation frameworks and statistical methodologies. The ability to clarify problems and issues is necessary in this role, as well as analytical, research and evaluation skills.The Risk and Intelligence Analyst is responsible for completing briefing papers, report submissions and presentations to senior managers, as well as potentially testifying in judicial proceedings. For information on all our Benefit program offerings, click here: .Working ConditionsTravel will be required within the province, and occasionally out of province, and the incumbent may occasionally be required to work from other locations in Halifax Metro area.Additional InformationThe successful candidate must be willing to enroll in or have completed a Threat Assessment training program or currently have professional designation as a Certified Threat Specialist. Such training includes intensive study in threat evaluation, assessment and management, statement analysis, criminal harassment and other violent behavior. The candidate will analyze information provided by professional sources, consult with experts and produce a detailed written report including recommendations for management strategies and victim safety planning. Travel may be required in order to complete this training.The successful candidate will be required to pass security clearances required by the Department to work with other law enforcement agencies. This includes a criminal record check, employment references, driver’s abstract and child abuse registry check, social media, credit check, as well as a Level II Federal Government Security Clearance.
