Job description: OverviewThe Recruitment Coordinator provides support in executing the School of Accounting and Finance’s (‘SAF’) communication, marketing and recruitment strategies as it pertains to the recruitment, outreach and conversion of high quality incoming students into the 5 undergraduate programs offered by SAF with an overall goal of strengthening the reputation of SAF amongst prospective students. This role will also help oversee and update SAF websites including the Aspiring Professionals site, SAF’s main undergraduate recruitment website.ResponsibilitiesUndergraduate Recruitment

  • Provides support to the Recruitment and Admissions Officer in the development of undergraduate recruitment strategies and protocols, and assists with identifying and compiling recruitment data to support with admissions decisions
  • Assists in the development of marketing action plans for recruitment relationship building and outreach initiatives
  • Builds strong relationships within SAF, Faculty of Arts and across the University of Waterloo community (e.g., professors, staff, current students, etc.) for support and involvement in recruitment, admissions, and student transition
  • Cultivates relationships to connect with domestic and international students, influencers, and key discipline-specific stakeholders (e.g., Faculty-initiated follow-up from the inquiry management system, handwritten letters, response to student inquiries, etc.)
  • Serves as a key public facing contact for SAF across the various recruitment audiences
  • Attends and provides leadership at all recruitment and outreach events for SAF
  • Provides support in the development and implementation of the SAF student retention and conversion strategies
  • Develops and leads training for student ambassadors, faculty student ambassadors, and others involved in delivering recruitment initiatives
  • Ensures that the Faculty’s key value propositions and differentiators are highlighted consistently and prominently across the School’s communication channels and events

Web Content

  • Coordinates all content updates of recruitment related web pages including the planning, creation, and implementation of content design and navigation, while prioritizing user experience and adhering to SAF’s web standards and brand guidelines. May assist with other SAF website updates, as required
  • Improve search engine optimization, including optimizing copy and landing pages, and recommending changes to website linking and other factors to improve SEO and UX/UI
  • Implement standards for measuring the success of web content, prepare analytics reports and make recommendations for improvements
  • Provides functional support to SAF to ensure that all web sites are effective, innovative, attractive, user-friendly, and appropriate for their respective audiences

Event Support

  • Works closely with the SAF Events Manager and to lead, implement, and evaluate program-specific on-and off-campus recruiting events and tours, as outlined in the overall SAF marketing and recruitment plan
  • Works closely with the Events Manager to lead, implement, manage, and evaluate SAF’s participation in the annual Ontario Universities’ Fair; recruits and trains booth staff
  • Visits high schools across the province to speak about SAF programs and/or attend high school career fairs as required
  • Recruits, manages, and trains event volunteers which can include students, staff, and faculty

Student Engagement

  • Responsible for the development, training, and management of the SAF Student Outreach and Ambassador Program (SOAP) and Unibuddy, SAF’s online prospective student networking platform
  • Develops and leads training for SAF Fellowship students, VC ambassadors, UW Marketing and Undergrad Recruitment Specialists, and others involved in delivering academic success initiatives
  • Collaborates with key SAF staff and faculty members in planning, training, and implementing retention and professional development events for current students

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or professional qualification or equivalent combination of education and experience in digital media marketing or related area
  • Excellent writing abilities, including promotional writing targeted for a student audience, with a demonstrated track record for success
  • Demonstrated strong networking and superior client service skills
  • Excellent promotional writing and experience with online content marketing strategies and best practices for web writing
  • Experience in special events planning & execution
  • Proven research and report writing skills
  • Knowledgeable about UI/UX design, information architecture, and search engine optimization
  • Knowledgeable about accessibility requirements (AODA legislation)
  • Ability to articulate the creative and technical rationale for a design choice
  • Self-starter, intrinsically motivated with the ability to work independently or within a team under tight deadlines
  • Ability to problem solve, with a high level of attention to detail, and manage multiple projects
  • Proven ability to meet strict deadlines without compromising quality
  • Proven ability to handle difficult situations with tact and diplomacy, and demonstrated problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills coupled with the ability to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and excel in a fast-paced environment characterized by changing priorities
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Comfortable working within an enterprise Content Management System, email marketing and distribution platforms
  • Intermediate knowledge of CSS, HTML, HTML5
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s license and access to a vehicle
