Accountable for daily supervision of support staff and volunteers and the smooth operation of programs and Reports regularly to Recreation CoordinatorLeadership and Staff Development(contract, co-op, part-time and volunteers): Includes daily supervision regarding workduties, scheduling, adherence to City policies and procedures, i.e. Health and Safety and payroll documentation. Meets regularly with staff. Recruits, trains, coaches and provides guidance to promote effective part-time employee relations and encourage increased moral, innovation and productivity to meet business needs. Provides performance evaluation feedback, including discipline, if needed. Evaluates staff training needs and arranges for training initiatives, particularly regarding qualifications and certifications. Is available for crisis support, physical/behaviour interventions, hands-on assistance and decision-making.Customer ServiceDemonstrates respect and understanding of the diversity of Brampton’s communities, neighbourhoods and individuals. Assist with conducting community needs assessments to better understand the community to better inform planning of local initiatives and strategies. Act as a City of Brampton representative on external community-based committees and working groups to gather information, feedback and to develop partnerships. Play a lead role to support city-wide events and other engagements initiatives. Assist in the development and implementation of community development projects. Play a lead role in the management of community events including analyzing, follow up reports and debriefing. Continuous improvement of customer service experience through anticipating, managing and resolving concerns, requests, inquiries and successes.Financial AccountabilityProvides input to budgeting process, including monthly forecasting and monitoring of revenues, expenditures and net. Reports on trends, emerging issues and potential areas of growth. Keeps staff and volunteer data regarding certifications and training.Program Development and SupportReport on trends and areas of growth including future opportunities. Manage quality programming through ongoing program visits. Participate in the program development and brochure development processes. Assist Recreation Coordinator with marketing and business plan. Support the awareness of community and neighbourhood action plans to support on-going community development and engagement.AdministrationProvides data such as customer statistics on usage, attendance, revenue, fill rates, and other important measures to the Recreation Coordinator and others as required. Review documentation of accident/incident reports and manage follow up accordingly. Prepare reports for the Recreation Coordinator which may include data analysis, customer satisfaction, program usage and event participation. Management of payroll verification for part-time staff. Adherence to all mandates deadlines.SELECTION CRITERIA:EDUCATION:
- Post-secondary degree in related field (i.e. Recreation Leisure, Community Development)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in recreation programming and/or community development and engagement
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Excellent public relations skills and ability to effectively deal with the
- One year supervisory/team lead experience working with staff and volunteers
OTHER SKILLS AND ASSETS:
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills along with strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Strong leadership skills and well-developed time management and organization skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of related legislation, in applicable area of discipline
