Job description: Position DescriptionSeattle Public Utilities (SPU) is seeking a highly motivated Product Manager (Strategic Advisor- 2, IT BU-P) to play a critical role in managing our Asset Management Systems projects and support activities to ensure we get the most value out of our technology investments. SPU provides a fun and family-friendly work environment that supports a work life balance, including:Hybrid work schedule opportunitiesFamily-friendly and multicultural work environmentGenerous benefits packageFree Orca PassCity pension plan with employer/employee contributionsGrowth potential and advancement opportunitiesJob ResponsibilitiesProgram & Project Management:Lead SPU’s Asset Management Systems projects (CIP & O&M).Oversee lifecycle of programs; in collaboration with stakeholders, set goals/timelines, monitor performance, define success metrics, manage communications with project participants, support implementation and user adoption.Align projects with SPU’s technology roadmap.Develop project plans and communication strategies.Identify potential risks and opportunities; Collaborate with the project’s cross functional and technical teams to communicate and escalate technical impacts.Minimize disruptions during system implementations and upgrades.Support vendor selection processes (RFPs, RFIs, RFQs) and manage relationships (deliverables, performance, contracts, payments).Ensure compliance with SPU and IT governance requirements.Product Management:Maintain product roadmap based on business needs, strategic plans, and vendor input.Provide oversight and coordination of all technical workstream activities, including status reporting, resourcing, requirements, design, build, test, and deployment tasks.Provide leadership and direction for product development.Estimate resource needs for ongoing maintenance of asset management systems.Agile Delivery:Maintain an up-to-date product roadmap and backlog in Azure DevOps for clear focus.Launch new projects and programs using Agile methodologies.Lead Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, reviews, backlog refinement, stand-ups).Business Engagement & IT Alignment:Ensure SPU complies with IT security/privacy policies and participates in relevant programs.Continuously evaluate new technologies to improve SPU’s operations.Partner with others to deliver effective technology solutions.Stay informed about industry best practices and emerging asset management technologies (predictive analytics, digital twins, AI).Identify, convey, and champion opportunities for business process improvements and operation changes.Please note this job posting is not designed to cover or contain the complete listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change as conditions require.QualificationsEducation: A bachelor’s degree in Business Technology, Management Information Systems or a relate field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Experience: Five (5) years’ experience in Business Analysis, Project Management, Product Management, Agile Delivery, and business process re-engineering, asset management, GIS or related field.Additional InformationIdeal Candidate:Agile Project & Product Management (planning, execution, monitoring, control)Expertise in product roadmaps, backlog management, and business alignment.Experience managing system integration, cutover, testing, and training plans.Data analysis/reporting skills for informed decision-making.Strong communication & collaboration across technical & non-technical audiences.Experience in sourcing and managing vendor relationships, contracts, and performance.Demonstrated experience driving projects from conception to successful completion with quality results.Excellent written & verbal communication (technical & non-technical audiences).Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusionThe full salary range for this position is $52.50 – $78.78 hourly.This position allows for the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule. Starting November 4, 2024, City employees will have the option to work remotely two days a week.
