Mental Wellness and Substance Use Services offers a goal focused approach to providing harm-reduction or recovery-based services for all individuals seeking to reduce the symptoms of mental wellness and/or substance use issues.Your roleThe Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in this role will initially assist in developing training for support worker staff at the Managed Alcohol Program (MAP) as well as other program development assistance and nursing duties. This role has the unique opportunity to enhance experience in program development and in facilitating trainings. The incumbent acts as a member of the interdisciplinary Referred Care Clinic team who provide ongoing health and social services to vulnerable and marginalized individuals.The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works directly with vulnerable individuals with unique health care needs. Applying harm reduction principles, this position is responsible for delivering outreach nursing to individuals with complex care needs, including physical, cognitive and developmental disabilities, mental health and substance use challenges, and social isolation. This position provides a strong focus on prevention, education and health promotion as well as clinical assessment, chronic disease management, coordination and support within the services and activities of Mental Wellness and Substance Use services.We are looking for individuals who can work autonomously, as well as within a multi-disciplinary team environment, and can demonstrate the ability to balance competing demands. To be successful in this role you will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ideal applicant will have excellent critical thinking, relationship building and conflict management skills along with the knowledge and understanding of the complexities of mental health and substance use. We are looking for an applicant who is open to diverse perspectives and cultures. The ideal applicant will practise cultural humility and will strive to provide culturally safe nursing care.

- Certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse
- Experience working as an LPN in a substance use and/or mental health care setting
- Experience providing outreach nursing and/ or harm reduction-based nursing care

Job requirementsThis job requires you to perform, and/or be exposed to, the following:
- This position requires the incumbent to spend time in a regular clinic environment when not providing community outreach services.
- This position may be required to travel within Whitehorse and rural Yukon communities.
- This position will provide nursing support to a new Managed Alcohol Program
Expected salary: $89680 – 103885 per year
