  • Serve as technical expert providing state-of-the-art molecular analyses in the Microbiology Service.
  • Perform a wide variety of complex experimental procedures involving conventional and molecular microbiology techniques.
  • Collaborate with investigator(s) on projects, methods and equipment aiding in meeting the lab’s clinical and research goals.
  • Follow the laboratory’s established policies and procedures when test systems are not within the laboratory’s established acceptable levels of performance.
  • Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results; correct problem or notify staff; document all corrective actions taken.
  • Participate in all aspects of laboratory safety, quality control, quality assurance and quality improvement (QC/QA/QI) policies and procedures.
  • Document all quality control activities, instrument calibrations and maintenance
  • Maintain records that demonstrate proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
  • Organize daily workload based on priorities, rotation schedule and needs of the laboratory and patients.
  • Ensure compliance with accrediting and inspections agency requirements, participating in activities associated with the laboratory accreditation process.

What You Will Need:Requires a University Degree and minimum (SIX) 6-8 years of prior relevant experience; some roles may require graduate-level education Master’s or Doctorate degree (Relevant experience may be substituted for formal education or advanced degree)Develop and manage study requirements, resources, equipment and supply needs.Implement methods and procedures to collect data and conduct experiments and studies, making adjustments in methods and procedures as appropriate.Manage incoming specimen processing and maintenance of “chain of custody” requirements.Prepare written documents, reports, and analyses or various scientific projects and programs.Conduct laboratory procedures and processes related to isolation, cultivation, identification, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, and systematic classification of bacterial enteric, zoonotic, and mycotic pathogens.Conduct serological, microbiological, and molecular techniques to rapidly identify and characterize such pathogens.This requisition has been posted for the purpose of pipelining building relationships with qualified candidates in order to potentially hire them into future openings we will have.What Would Be Nice To Have:May lead and direct the work of others.The annual salary range for this position is $100,200.00-$150,200.00.
