Key responsibilities of the position include developing and maintaining a pipeline of value generating engagements; managing the Central Improvement Team to drive sustainable and measurable results; and supporting the efforts of Teck’s operation based continuous improvement teams.This role is an exciting and unique opportunity to be an improvement leader across multiple operations at a transformational time for Teck You will have the opportunity to interact with senior leaders at Teck, both corporately and at our operations, and peers in other mining companies with similar roles.Success will require a blend of analytical, interpersonal and project management skills. Your analytical skills will allow you to tackle large and ambiguous business problem through hypothesis-based approach, while your interpersonal skills will allow you to lead cross-functional teams, such as mining engineers, mine operations and continuous improvement specialists, to develop novel solutions. Lastly, through diligent project management, you will ensure that the team’s portfolio of initiatives are implemented and sustained, so that ultimately all efforts result in long term business value.Job DescriptionBe a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and proceduresDevelop resourcing and execution plans for a pipeline of engagements that balance value delivery and team capacityBe accountable for the overall engagement quality and performance of multiple teams each consisting of 2-4 members. Collaborate with team leaders to establish and report out relevant metrics for performance metrics such as KPI impact, end user adoption, schedule, and costCoordinate pipeline development and focus with continuous improvement leaders at Teck operations; develop programs to support Teck’s operation based continuous improvement teams and broadly create a Teck wide community of continuous improvement that is embedded in Teck’s operating system and leadership development programs and drives Teck wide collaborationFrom time to time take on analysis or short engagements from members of Teck’s leadership teamDrive consistency of engagement teams consisting of BI specialists and team leaders by providing regular feedback and identifying growth opportunities through daily feedback, engagement performance reviews, and bi-annual performance feedbackDevelop people: maintain the Central Improvement Team reputation as a desired and career enhancing place to work for emerging talent by high quality training, impactful engagements and a focus on rotating team members to other high-profile roles at TeckQualificationsMinimum 5-7 years of professional experience in operations improvement focused management consulting, process improvement, cost reduction, mining operations, or engineering. Exposure to mine operations is considered an assetMinimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field.
