Comprised of the Credit Valley Hospital, the Mississauga Hospital, and the Queensway Health Centre, along with several satellite locations, THP serves the growing and diverse populations of Mississauga, West Toronto, and surrounding communities, and is a teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Toronto.If you are passionate about your career, motivated to improve the health of the community, and committed to excellence, quality, and patient safety consider joining our Better Together team!Position OverviewReporting to the Director, IS Infrastructure and Operations, the Digital Network and Telecommunications Manager is responsible for planning and maintaining technical infrastructure in the hospital. This position manages the technical services staff and coordinates hospital-wide technical support for clients. The Voice & Network Operations will also work closely with the IT executive staff, decision-makers, and peers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the hospital.Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Digital Network & Telecommunications department operational planning and projects, and organize and negotiate the allocation of IT resources.
  • Work with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations.
  • Ensure the efficient utilization of IT resources – including personnel and equipment – across the organization.
  • Oversee all reports and documentation related to network and systems operations.
  • Develop maintenance schedules for infrastructure.
  • Conduct system feasibility studies and testing.
  • Develop and implement all functional policies and procedures for system architecture, standards, purchasing, and service provision.
  • Assist in providing end-user services, including help desk and technical support services.
  • Develop strategies and technology roadmaps to evolve the solutions and infrastructure to align with the organization’s technology needs, increase the value of the IT investment, and implement those strategies.
  • Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.
  • Approve the purchase of equipment and supplies to meet the hospital’s operational requirements.
  • Analyze existing operations and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the IT systems.
  • Conduct research and remain current with the latest technologies and solutions supporting procurement efforts.
  • Develop requests for proposals and requirement documents.

Qualifications

  • A university degree and/or equivalent experience are required.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in a senior technical role is required.
  • Previous managerial experience is an asset.
  • Engineering or equivalent certification.
  • Relevant working experience of 6 years in Network and Voice Infrastructure Management.
  • Proven experience in IT infrastructure architecting, planning and development on a CISCO network and Avaya Telecom environment.
  • Possess a clear understanding of capacity planning in various scenarios. (Single/Redundant Circuits, Load Balancing, Aggregation etc.)
  • Strong technical knowledge of Cisco & Avaya routing/switching and Firewalls software, including Cisco IOS, Cat OS, ASA OS, and NX-OS.
  • Knowledge of advanced services modules for the Catalyst 4500, 6800 and 6500 series switches Nexus series switches, including the Nexus 9000, 7000, 5000 and 2000 series.
  • Strong understanding of Telecom technologies including VoIP, PSTN, Voice WiFi, including Avaya and CISCO Voice.
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting VPN issues on different IPSec endpoints, including Cisco Firewalls, Cisco VPN Concentrators, and Cisco Routers.
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting firewalls, including Cisco ASA and Cisco Firewall Services Module (FWSM) in a single and multi-context environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Layer 2 technologies, including Spanning-Tree, VLANs, VTP, UDLD, VDC, and CDP.
  • Strong knowledge of Layer 3 technologies, including IPv4, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, IPv6, HSRP, and VRRP.
  • Experience working with Network Monitoring and Troubleshooting tools, including CISCO Prime, CA NetQos, and Wireshark.
  • Experience in a hospital or health care setting preferred.
  • Technical awareness of infrastructure-specific technologies and best practices.
  • General knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and IT Security.
  • ITILv4 certification / Knowledge of QMS preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills among vendors, clients, peers, and executives.
  • Strong presentation skills to present and possibly persuade to achieve the desired outcome/results.
  • Strong analytic skills to review present situations and make recommendations for the long term.
  • Proven success in providing strong leadership.
  • Experience in resource allocation management in an environment with competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate teamwork.
