Afternoon shift (Mon-Thurs / 10hr days) 3:30pm-2:00amOur client, a well reputed structural steel fabricator is currently looking for a Fitter for their facility north of Kitchener-Waterloo in Elmira.Job Description:As a Fitter, you will be responsible for fitting and assembling metal components and structures, ensuring they are accurately aligned and tacked in place for final welding by a Welder. Your role involves interpreting technical drawings and take-offs to prepare parts for welding, with a strong focus on precision and collaboration.Key Responsibilities:
- Fit and assemble metal components and structures based on technical drawings and take-offs.
- Tack pieces together to secure them in place, ensuring proper alignment for subsequent welding.
- Collaborate with Welders to ensure that fitted assemblies are correctly prepared for final welding.
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings for accurate fabrication and assembly.
- Conduct inspections of fitted components to ensure quality and correct any alignment issues before welding.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with safety regulations.
- Work effectively with team members to ensure timely project completion.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in metal fitting and assembly.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and take-offs.
- Experience in any industry where fitting and assembly skills are required.
- Strong understanding of metalworking principles.
- Detail-oriented with good problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Expected salary: $30 – 35 per hour
