Job description: Play a pivotal role in the upcoming 2025 Edmonton Election!The Edmonton Election is a large-scale, complex, highly legislated civic project that is held every four years, featuring tight timelines and a broad range of stakeholders. It is a project that requires agility, precision, and dedication, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to a process that enables Edmontonians to vote for Mayor, Council, and Edmonton Public or Edmonton Catholic school board trustees.Reporting directly to the Information Systems and Election Technology Lead, you’ll play an important role in managing critical data extracts and integrations between election administration systems. This involves close collaboration with both internal and external partners to ensure timely and accurate information flow through the appropriate channels. During the voting period, you will be a go-to person for frontline users on the use of election administration solutions and related hardware, as well as voting station devices – troubleshooting issues and clarifying processes – empowering our team to work efficiently and effectively.What will you do?
- Manage data extracts and integrations between election administration systems
- Coordinate with various internal and external partners to ensure accurate election information (maps, electors registry, candidate lists, results) is available in a timely manner via appropriate channels such as internal applications, website, Open Data portal, media news feeds
- Design, build, test and implement small applications or procedures using a variety of tools to access information from various systems, merge data sets, or distribute information in different formats (CSV, XLS, XML, SHP, JSON, etc.)
- Develop, document and implement data extract and data integration procedures that meet all of the relevant policies, legislation and business requirements
- Liaise with numerous Internal Business Support Teams to ensure the unique service requirements of the election project are met, sometimes using creative solutions and non-standard methods to achieve critical business outcomes
- Coordinate work with COE business areas supporting data integrations to Web Applications, GIS Datasets and Enterprise Applications (SAP, PeopleSoft) and external vendors (ELMS) and partners (Elections Alberta)
- Assist the Election Systems Developers with work to migrate data into or extract data from election administration solutions and ensure system readiness to meet business requirements and projected timelines
- Supports front-line users (project team members and election workers at voting stations) on the usage of Election Administration applications and related devices, including extended support (evenings and weekends) during key election activities (e.g. nomination day, voting days, etc.)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics or a related discipline and 2 years experience managing data extracts and integrations between systems
- Experience in technical fields of
- Data Query and Reporting Tools
- Data ETL (Extract, Transform, Load)Distribution of information via Web Services
- Data Integrity and Quality Assurance
- Integration of new technologies
- Valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator’s license (non-probationary and non-graduated) or operators licensing equivalent
