The result is a collaborative, positive environment where everyone, regardless of their role, receives the resources, support, and encouragement to advance and grow their careers.Position OverviewThe Clinical Applications Analyst (I or II) in Pathology Informatics is responsible for implementing, managing, and optimizing Pathology’s information systems-ensuring seamless integration with the electronic medical record (EMR). The analyst will focus on systems integration related to laboratory automation and overall support of Pathology’s clinical LIS infrastructure.   • Actively participate and lead in meetings with cross-functional teams to elicit and understand business requirements.
  • Develop, configure, and maintain interfaces between laboratory instruments and the LIS in accordance with current best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure proper integration of new and existing laboratory instruments, automation, applications, etc.
  • Adheres to change management processes-maintaining thorough documentation of validation testing, approvals, and implementation follow-up in accordance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to instrument and application data interfaces and data transfer.
  • Monitor data integrity and validate the accuracy of data transferred between instruments and LIS in accordance with current best practices.
  • Conduct analyses to report emerging business/system/process needs; escalate complex problems when required.
  • Track and drive resolution of needs and requests of teams within area, in coordination with laboratory teams and partner IT teams.
  • Lead activities related to education of departmental teams around strategy, services, and capabilities, as well as change management, project management, and communication.
  • Support development of presentation materials, documents, etc. for departmental stakeholders.
  • Provide inputs for optimization of standardized/pre-described business requirement gathering in assigned area.
  • Maintain relationships with key stakeholders and vendors, serving as the frontline point of contact for customers.
  • Act as a mentor to others within team regarding own process; and train others in correct execution of the process.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

Clinical Applications Analyst II Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, business or related field required.
  • Master’s degree preferred.

Clinical Applications Analyst II Minimum Experience:

  • Minimum requirement: Two (2) years of experience in a client-facing IT role.
  • Highly prefer experience with LIS systems (Epic, Cerner, etc).
  • Highly prefer experience with laboratory instrument integration utilizing Data Innovations Instrument Manager.
  • Experience working in a Clinical Laboratory is preferred.
  • Experience leading discussions, identifying and documenting business IT problem statements, business process design and report requirements.

Clinical Applications Analyst II Special Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Clearly understands and documents business requirements related to own app/domain.
  • Translates defined requirements into work products with limited guidance.
  • Applies basic consultative skills and knowledge of business/systems analysis tools with limited guidance.

Clinical Applications Analyst I Job Responsibilities:

  • Participate in meetings with cross-functional teams to elicit and understand business requirements.
  • Assist in development, configuration, and maintenance of interfaces between laboratory instruments and the LIS in accordance with current best practices.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

Clinical Applications Analyst I Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, business or related field required.
  • Master’s degree preferred.

Clinical Applications Analyst I Minimum Experience:

  • Highly prefer experience with LIS systems (Epic, Cerner, etc).
  • Highly prefer experience with laboratory instrument integration utilizing Data Innovations Instrument Manager.
  • Experience working in a Clinical Laboratory is preferred.

Clinical Applications Analyst I Special Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Shows basic awareness of business analysis tools, requirement definition templates, tools, and processes.
  • Is able to support requirement gathering and documentation.
  • Provides operational/ coordination support for business, system, and process analysis.

Compensation In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
