Based in our Vancouver office you will build your career within our industry leading T&D Lines team. Embark on this pivotal journey flourishing under the supervision of our highly experienced Western Canada T&D Lines Leadership TeamPrimary ResponsibilitiesUnder the supervision of a professional engineer, perform the structural design of overhead transmission lines (route selection, structures, foundations, hardware assemblies) and associated facilities for voltages from 60kV to 500kVDevelop safe engineering solutions through design, problem analysis, and interpreting specifications for medium complexity utilities projects.Assist project/operations management in meeting safety, cost, quality, and schedule targets by proposing plan changes, recommending contractor payments, preparing progress reports, and coordinating work schedulesResolve highly technical and unusual design and field engineering problems through independent studies, analysis, exercising judgment in information selection, and recommending safe engineering designsContribute to CIMA+’s engineering practices by conducting studies, developing technical standards, exercising judgment in information evaluation, recommending designs, and providing guidance to other engineersDeliver exceptional customer service by defining engineering scope with clients, establishing design criteria, approving technical documentation, and assessing/reporting progress against standards and objectives for safe, quality, budget-compliant, and timely project completionPerform design tasks under the direct supervision of a professional engineer.Prepare project documentation like reports, specifications, proposals, estimates, design basis, and test plans per CIMA+’s practicesDevelop design work packages with scope, duration, and effort estimates, and manage design tasks including scope, schedule, and cost for existing and new facilitiesOffer technical assistance, construction support, and field reviews as requiredApply loads, design criteria, seismic analysis per regulatory and industry standards, considering associated civil, mechanical, electrical systems like foundations, lightning protection, conductors, and hardwareQualificationsUniversity Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent experienceRegistered member of a Professional Engineering association in BC/ Canada, or eligible for registration in BC as an EITProficient in design/analysis software and CAD systems, along with familiarity of drawing standardsProficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)Excellent communication abilities in English – written and verbal (French is an asset)Experience in design tasks including scope, schedule and cost controlContactThe expected salary for this position is from $65,000 to $75,000 based on the richness and diversity of the candidate’s experience, training, skills and internal equity.
