We invite you to apply!We’re looking for a dedicated and talented School Social Worker to become part of our Child Study Team.Your schedule will be Monday-Friday from 7:30am-4:15pm.SummaryThe School Social Worker provides a full range of school social work services to children grades 9-12 at Foundation Academies. Duties include scheduling screening and assessment, individual and group counseling, completing Functional Behavior Assessments, working with outside agencies as appropriate, or other duties as assigned by manager. The School Social Worker will be a case manager and be an integral member of the Child Study Team to determine students’ eligibility for special education services, coordinate appropriate programming, and recommend strategies and supports for educational, academic, and behavioral needs.Here’s what you’ll be doing:
- You’ll be determining individual and group services for children according to the services outlined in their IEP or 504 plan that emphasize improved educational performance and/or conduct.
- You’ll be scheduling the screening and evaluating of children referred for special education services, including selecting appropriate instruments, conducting classroom observations, and writing reports which state the evaluation findings and provide for educational program recommendations.
- You’ll be participating as a member of the Child Study Team, contributing evaluation findings and collaborating with all members of the team to develop high quality educational plans.
- You’ll be collaborating with school special education and general education staff around special education programming, Child Study Team Meetings, and progress for students with IEPs.
- You’ll be consulting with parents, teachers, and other staff regarding any accommodations/modifications, behavior intervention, and support plans as needed for a specific child.
- You’ll be maintaining appropriate data on students, including present levels of performance and intervention strategies.
- You’ll be establishing and managing necessary caseloads and work with schools, staff and parents to schedule and prepare for identification, annual review, and tri-annual review meetings.
- You’ll be submitting records, reports, and assignments promptly and efficiently, maintaining 100% compliance status.
- You’ll be managing, conducting, and supporting special and general education teachers with the completion and implementation of Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Support Plans.

Foundation Academy offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience in a similar position with yearly increases. The salary range for this position is $65,000 – $80,000. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and midpoint depending on experience and in alignment with internal equity.Qualifications
- You preferably have 2+ years working in an urban or low-income setting and you understand what it takes for students with IEPs to thrive in an inclusive school setting.

- You possess or are eligible for NJ certification in School Social Worker
- You have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.00 (if graduated after Sept 2015) or 2.75 (before Sept 2015) for certification requirements
