We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive faculty and staff.The Division of Neonatology is among the largest divisions within the Department, Neonatology has 40+ faculty members who are involved with clinical care, teaching, advocacy, administration and research.The Division has an outstanding opportunity for a Temporary, Part-Time (50%FTE) Biostatistician. This position will provide division-wide biostatistical support for faculty-initiated projects for study design, grant submissions, data collection, data analysis, and manuscript preparation. The Biostatistician will disseminate biostatistics knowledge to the divisional faculty and there are opportunities for participation in faculty grants and related data science and machine learning.Job duties include but are not limited to:Experiment Planning and Data Analysis – 70%

  • Perform high-level biostatistical analysis for research projects utilizing knowledge and expertise in statistical methods.
  • Consult with researchers (faculty, staff and trainees) regarding study design, data collection, data analysis, and presentation of results.
  • Aid in interpretation of results and explain statistical methods as appropriate.
  • Contribute as an author for the publication of results, with an emphasis on but not limited to the statistical methods.
  • Contribute to study design with consideration for methodology, data collection and biostatistical analysis to ensure optimal project success.
  • Design and lead research projects with consultation from other researchers.

Knowledge Dissemination – 30%

  • Provide knowledge and resources for divisional faculty, trainees and staff to perform effective research and biostatistical analysis.
  • Aid in methodology and biostats planning for studies, and direction to faculty and trainees on how to perform biostatistics analysis for their studies.
  • Provide direction and example for high-level execution of research.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field: biostatistics/ statistics & two years of relevant experience OR Equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree in Biostatistics
  • Biostatistics consulting experience
  • Proficient knowledge of at least one statistical analysis package (SPSS, R, etc.)
  • Knowledge of and experience with the University of Washington system.
  • Time management, multi-tasking, detail-oriented, organized, and a positive attitude to thrive and succeed in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
