Its location is mainly on-site, teaching a minimum of 24 credit hours per academic year utilizing various modalities, including traditional, hybrid, synchronous online, asynchronous online, 8-week, and 16-week. The faculty member is also expected to engage in both scholarly and service activities. This position reports directly to the Department Head of Psychology.Qualifications:Required Education and/or Work Experience:
- Doctorate in Psychology from an accredited institution (ABD candidates may be hired at the rank of instructor and will be promoted to Assistant professor upon completion of their PhD.).
- College-level teaching experience.
- Demonstrated experience in the effective use of technology in the classroom, the development of instructional materials, and distance learning delivery methods that address a variety of learning styles.
- Evidence of scholarship in the discipline.
- A teaching philosophy with an emphasis on critical thinking, accessibility, and inclusivity is necessary.
- Experience working with first-generation and non-traditional learners is preferred.
- Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for part of these requirements.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach a variety of undergraduate Psychology program courses, inclusive of those in one’s area of expertise. Preference will be given to applicants who can teach courses in the following areas: Behavioral Statistics, Research Methods, Experimental Psychology, and Industrial/Organizational Psychology.
- Take part in scholarly, creative, and research activities that can involve student researchers.
- Engage in student advisement, recruitment, and retention activities.
- Maintain weekly office/availability hours.
- Participate in service at the department, college, university, community, and professional levels.
- Contribute to development, implementation, and evaluation of new curriculum.
- Attend commencement ceremonies, and other department, college, and university level meetings/events as required.
- Other duties as required and/or assigned by the Department Head.
