The Manual Machinist will build and maintain progressive dies, transfer dies and single hit dies from development to approval, both in house and, at times, at customer facilities. This position requires experience is all phases of conventional machining, die assembly, in press die tryout, troubleshooting, and basic Project Management skills. Support of automation and other interdepartmental support will also be required.Ehrhardt Automation Systems designs and builds Automated Systems, Special Machines, and Customized Tooling based upon customer needs and specifications. Ehrhardt also works with customers on “Build to Print” projects and is a diverse supplier for the HVAC, Appliance, Industrial, Consumer, Medical and Automotive Markets. Based in the St. Louis metro area in a modern fully air conditioned 82,000 square foot facility, the company is able to produce new product offerings rapidly and is ideally poised to penetrate new markets.Responsibilities * Safely operate all tool room machinery, including but not limited to: lathes, mills, grinders and hand tools.
- Analyze engineering drawings to determine required process to produce quality die details.
- Analyze assembly and section drawings to determine the most efficient build process. Responsible for the execution of the assembly process.
- Collaborate with engineers and managers on die designs to increase build efficiency, product quality and resolution of machining or assembly problems.
- Responsible for leading the daily tasks of co-workers working on your project and directs them in operation tool room equipment such as lathes, mills, grinders and hand tools.
- Communicate with shop managers and project managers to maintain project schedules and budgets.
- Tryout and debug completed projects to identify any nonconformance.
- Available to travel to customer site to facilitate install, training and project hand off.

Qualifications * Journeyman Tool & Die Maker or equivalent with 5+ years’ experience.
- Results oriented and able to work both independently and within a team environment.
- Previous experience building and maintaining progressive dies, transfer dies and single hit dies from development to final approval.
- General knowledge of GD&T.
- Knowledge of CNC and Wire EDM machining processes are a plus.
