Job description: A SIGN-ON BONUS OF $4,081 IS AVAILABLE FOR THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT OF THIS POSITION PAID IN 2 INSTALLMENTS WITHIN 12 MONTHS OF HIRE:
$2,040.50 WITHIN 30 DAYS OF HIRE DATE & $2,040.50 12 MONTHS AFTER HIRE DATE.Performs duties and responsibilities associated with the cabinetry and carpentry trades, including but not limited to reproducing a wide variety of products from prints, sketches, or from verbal communication. Fabricates and repairs all types of casework, furniture, doors, windows, floors, and hardware.
Minimum Education and Experience RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Optional Guidelines: Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the area of assignment may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and ExperienceKnowledge of and skilled in the use of cabinet shop and carpentry tools and equipment.Ability to work independently or alongside team members.Knowledge in operating and maintaining shop machinery including table saws, bandsaws, edge banders, panel saws, shapers, planers, mortise machines, sanders, and all hand and power tools associated with the cabinetry/carpentry trade.Ability to read and interpret plans and architectural drawings, sketches and customer requirements. Ability to perform a wide variety of projects moderate to complex requiring a thorough range of woodworking skills such as millwork, casework, joinery, woodturning, and reproduction of vintage woodwork. Ability to perform cabinetry and carpentry at the journey level.Ability to serve as a mandatory employee and report to work in support of essential (mandatory) University operations, even when adverse weather or other emergency conditions, including but not limited to a public health emergency, may require the University to close.A valid NC Driver’s License or ability to obtain one prior to start date.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and ExperienceProgressive experience in the woodworking industry.
Required Licenses/Certifications
Special Physical/Mental RequirementsAbility to work for extended periods of time on hands and knees; move objects weighing at least 50 pounds, with or without a reasonable accommodation; climb and work from ladders, lifts and scaffolding up to 60 feet in height. Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) for the specific job, including but not limited to safety harnesses, fall protection, respirators, face masks or face shields, safety glasses, protective gloves, and steel toe safety shoes.
