Job description: Overview:Join our client in Central Illinois as a Toolmaker, where you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping metal into intricate and functional components. Unleash your creativity and problem-solving abilities as you navigate the intricate world of metalworking, ensuring precision and quality in every step of the manufacturing process.Job Responsibilities:
- Analyze specifications, blueprints, and models to determine materials and machinery required for fabricating metal parts.
- Examine stamped metal parts for imperfections, ensuring flawless Class A surface finishes.
- Dismantle and repair die components, ensuring optimal performance of metal stamping presses.
- Set up and operate various machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders, to machine parts according to specifications.
- Measure, mark, and scribe metal stock for machining, ensuring accurate dimensions and layouts.
- Smooth flat and contoured surfaces using grinders, and assemble parts into mechanisms and assemblies.
- Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances to maintain quality standards.
- Heat treat tools or parts as required, ensuring durability and longevity.
- Connect wiring and hydraulic lines to install electrical and hydraulic components.
- Examine existing dies, tools, and jigs & fixtures, recommending design modifications for improved functionality.
- Develop specifications and sketches for specialty tools, showcasing your design skills.
- Operate industrial-powered equipment, such as die carts, forklifts, aerial lifts, and scissor-lifts, with proficiency.
- Complete required documentation, adhering to department work instructions and statistical process control procedures.
- Maintain excellent attendance and a strong safety record.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work within various height ranges, from ground level to overhead.
- Proficiency in operating cranes, hand-held controls, chains, hooks, and rakes.
- Familiarity with computer controls and screens, as well as hand tools and wrenches.
- Willingness to perform other duties as assigned.
