As the Manager, Portfolio Management, you will ensure the successful planning, execution, and completion of projects, aligning them with strategic goals of the company. You will be accountable for defining project objectives, managing project resources, and maintaining quality control throughout the project life cycle.A Day in the Life
- Portfolio Governance – Develop and maintain project management methodologies, standards, and tools. Ensure projects are aligned with the organization’s goals and strategy. Monitor project performance and compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Resource Management: Optimize resource allocation across projects, balancing the needs of individual projects with overall portfolio goals.
- Manage project budgets within the portfolio, ensuring cost efficiency and effective use of financial resources. Coordinate with project managers and team leads to ensure that project resourcing aligns with strategic priorities.
- Reporting & Documentation – Define project governance and communication cadence. Establish project roles and responsibilities along with stakeholder engagement plan. Onboard project resources, manage resource allocation, provide direction and support to the project team. Exercise significant autonomy in decision-making, often influencing organizational strategy and project direction.
- Financial & Health Reporting – Develop, manage, and report on portfolio budget. Monitor and report on progress of portfolio to senior management. Present and review portfolio health status, progress, risk, issues, and highlight decisions required.
- Process Improvement – Continuously assess and improve project management processes and tools, with a focus on enhancing strategic alignment and prioritization. Identify and implement changes that increase efficiency and effectiveness across the project portfolio. Lead post-project reviews to capture lessons learned and improve future project delivery and strategic alignment.
- Training & Support – Provide training and support to project managers and team members on best practices for project management and strategic alignment. Mentor and guide junior project management staff, particularly in areas related to strategic planning and portfolio management. Support the adoption and effective use of new project management tools and software across the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management of Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field of study.
- 7-10 years of experience in project management, including significant experience in strategic planning and portfolio management.
- Proven track record in prioritizing and delivering projects that align with organizational strategy and deliver high value.
- PMP (Project Management Professional), PRINCE2, or similar certifications are often required.
- Certification in portfolio management (e.g., MoP) is highly desirable.
The hiring base salary range for this position is $92,100 – $126,610 annually. Actual compensation within this range will be dependent upon the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, equity with other team members, and alignment with market data.What’s in it for You
